Address Changes for Minnesota SAR

We now manage the State Society’s contact information through the National SAR web site. When you send us an address change, either via email or paper mail, we change it for both state and national mailings. We use the national database to address state postal mailings. The national database also keeps track of members’ phone numbers.

It’s a bit more complicated to change an email address. We change it on the national site, of course, but we also need to change it for subscribers to our email groups. This requires a separate visit to the mnsar.groups.io web site.

DIY Address Changes

It is easy to change your own address on the National SAR site.

  1. Establish a login at the National SAR site if you don’t already have one. Click on the Login button and, at the top of the Login box choose “Register.” Be sure to provide your National number and date of birth.
  2. Now, log in to the national site. The site’s menus will change slightly. On the right-hand end of the blue menu, click on “Quick Links” and select “Online Membership Database (BLUE).”
  3. This will display your personal “Member Info” and allow you to edit it. If you can’t edit it, look for an “Edit” button and click that.
  4. This page lets you edit your addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and spouse’s name.
  5. After making your changes, be sure to click the “Update Member Detail” button at the bottom of the page.

If you routinely move between two different locations, you may enter two different mailing addresses in your member record. There is a button atop each address that lets you select which of the two addresses to use. You will need to change between them yourself when you move from one to the other.

DIY Email Address Changes

This is a two-part task. First, you change your email address on the national site. Follow the instructions above. This is especially important because we use emails from the national list to send our yearly renewal invoices.

Second, if you have subscribed to any MNSAR mailing lists, you must also change your email address on the groups.io site. If you haven’t subscribed to mnsar@groups.io, please do so.

Once you belong to the mnsar@groups.io email list, you are registered with the site. You do not need to create another account. The groups.io site can log you in using an email link or a password; you set it up the way you want.

  1. Visit the site at https://groups.io. Click on the Log In button in the upper right corner of the web page.
  2. Enter the email address you used to sign up with the email list.
  3. Follow the instructions to set up a password, or to log in using an emailed link, or Google, or Facebook. I have not used the Google or Facebook login methods; you probably must use the same email for Google or Facebook that you use for the mailing list.
  4. After you log in, you will have an account menu on the upper right corner of the web page, to the right of the “Help” menu.
  • The account menu should display your name or email address. Click on the menu and select “Account.”
  • The top of the page has a field titled “New Email.” Enter your new email address into that field and click the “Change Email” button. Follow the instructions. That should replace your email address on all of the MNSAR mailing lists, except for renewals. Your email address on the NSSAR Blue Database is used to email your renewals.
